About This Shelter
Hours:
Mondays through Fridays 7am to 6pm.
At Family Promise, we are known for being a homeless ministry, but we are able to serve families who are on the verge of being homeless. We help people who have eviction notices, homes that have burnt down, and people who are struggling financially to pay rent.
A minimum of 13 churches act as host churches to 4 families or 14 people at a time. Guests of the program receive food, shelter and intensive case management services to help them overcome the barriers to homelessness.
In our Homeless Prevention program, we are able to provide:
Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Training
Life skill Classes
Parenting, co-dependency training
Resume preparation
Case Management
Financial match program and much more.
We partner with many agencies to provide the most comprehensive services to our guests, including the Lycoming County United Way. With their support, we offer a financial match of each guests savings towards their first and last rent payments as well as their security deposit. This helps our guests secure housing more quickly and offers them the ability to have a fresh start with a stronger chance at success.
Rotational guests
Our Rotational guests are families who have become homeless and entered our program. In our program we are able to provide food, shelter, and individualized case management services to children and their families that have lost their homes. We are able to take in up to 4 families at a time to help work We offer a variety of services, including:
Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Training
Universal precautions
Parenting, co-dependency training
Resume preparation and much more.
Our case manager works one-on-one with each family to determine their individual goals and helps them with referrals to area agencies to help them receive the services they need. Our congregations provide love and support and all of the volunteers help to prepare and serve meals, drive the van, and sleep overnight at the congregations. During the day, guests in our program stay at our Day Center/office facility on Hepburn Street, where they are able to shower, do laundry, and meet with our case manager. We are able to create a warm environment to help empower and equip families to change their circumstances.
