The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara (HACSC) operates separate waiting lists for the following federal programs:
    Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8)
    Project Based Voucher
    Moderate Rehabilitation
The average wait for a household to receive a housing voucher is 8 to 10 years.
Certain housing programs require the applicant to be referred to HACSC by a supportive service agency. For more information on HACSC's housing programs, please click here.

Section 8 Housing Programs
The Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program is HACSC's largest rental assistance program with about 17,000 participants. Thehousing choice voucheris a 100% federally funded rental subsidy for low-income households living in privately owned rental units. HACSC voucher holders in the Moving to Work (MTW) program pay 32% of their gross income toward rent (or a minimum rent of $50, whichever is higher), and the agency pays the balance of the rent directly to the landlords on behalf of the families.
