Charlotte County, Florida Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List

The Punta Gorda Housing Authority (PGHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from April 22, 2021 until May 13, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

1. Print the paper application.
2. Pick up an application from the Punta Gorda Housing Authority Administration Office.

Once the application was completed, it was either:

1. Postmarked by May 13, 2021 and mailed to the PGHA. Mailed applications must have been postmarked by May 13, 2021 and received no later than May 18, 2021.
2. Faxed to the PGHA.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Residency - Household whose head, spouse or sole member currently reside or work in Charlotte County, FL or the City of North Port, FL.
• Displacement – Household been displaced by any of the following:
  • By government action.
  • Home was extensively damaged or destroyed as a result of a natural disaster (for example, hurricane, local flooding and wildfire)
• Working Family- Household whose head, spouse or sole member have verifiable employment at a minimum of 20 hours per week.
• Disabled Family - Household whose head, spouse or sole member receive social security disability benefits, supplemental security income, or any other payment based on the individuals’ inability to work.
• Elderly Family- Household whose head, spouse or sole member age 62 or older.

250 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery.
