Eligibility
The Housing Authority of Paducah (HAP) waiting list for Public Housing apartments is currently open. Applications are being accepted from January 8, 2020 at 9:00 am ET, until further notice.
There are two ways to apply during the opening period:
- Complete the online application here.
- Visit the HAP office (Elmwood Court) located at 2330 Ohio St on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 – 11:00 AM and 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
This waiting list has the following preferences:
- Elderly or Disabled Elderly/Disabled Families
- Elderly preference is available when the head or spouse/significant other is aged 62 or older. Disabled preference is available when the applicant’s household will contain one or more members who are considered disabled as defined in HAP’s Housing policy. Verification: Documentation that will establish age such as a picture I.D. for elderly preference. Documentation that will establish disability status preference such as written verification of SSI benefits, documentation from medical or social service professionals, social worker or relevant agency, etc., for disability preference.
- Employed at least 20 hours per week
- Employment Applicants with an adult family member who is currently working (at least 20 hours per week). Verification: The “Employer Verification Form” supplied by the HAP and verified by the employer, or most recent pay-stubs supplied by the applicant.
- Homeless/Domestic Violence Victim
- Homeless/Domestic Violence Victim Verification: Resident verification from a public or private facility that provides shelter for homeless individuals, a shelter manager, or a third-party written verification from relevant social service agency social worker, private facility, local police department, etc. certifying the Applicant’s homeless status.
- McCracken County Resident
- McCracken County Residents Verification: Documentation that will establish residency such as a picture ID with current address.
- School or Continuing Education School/Education/Job Training
- Applicants with an adult family member who is enrolled in college/vocational school (minimum of 6 or more credit hours) per semester; or enrolled in an employment training program; adult continuing education program (e.g. JOBS, JTPA, GED, etc.) Verification: A student schedule showing total credit hours or a letter from the educational institution on its letterhead, stating total number of credit hours. Adult continuing education, or other job training programs: A certification from the relevant agency on its letterhead stating the program participating in.
- Veteran of the Armed Forces
- Veteran of the Armed Forces Verification: A Veteran of the Armed Forces must provide a DD214 or a U.S. Uniform Services I.D.
- Victim of Natural Disaster
- Victims of a Natural Disaster who were or were not prior to the disaster, receiving assistance from public housing or a housing choice voucher program. Verification: Original or signed copies of FEMA and/or American Red Cross vouchers, and proof of Federal Disaster Area Residence, such as a photo ID showing an address in the affected area. Verification of Housing Program Participation checked via the internet through PIC (Public and Indian Housing Information Center) for previous participants.
It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
