Eligibility
The Salem Housing Authority (SHA) is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for senior/disabled individuals.
Please note: The SHA does not offer federal public housing for families.
The SHA offers one public housing community with 39 units dedicated to senior/disabled individuals.
There are two ways to apply:
1. Visit the SHA to pick up an application, located at 27 Charter St., Salem, MA 01970, between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday-Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm, and Fridays from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.
2. Request to have an application mailed to you by calling 978-744-4431 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday-Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm, and Fridays from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.
Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above. No documents are needed at this time.
The SHA does have a preference for veterans, and applicants that live and/or work in Salem.
