Eligibility

Please note: The Becker County Economic Development Authority is managed by the Midwest Minnesota Community Development Corporation, and covers Becker County, MN, with the exception of Detroit Lakes, MN. Please click the link provided for information on that area. 

The Midwest Minnesota Community Development Corporation (MMCDC) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families. 

Please note: The MMCDC does not offer a Public Housing program for senior/disabled households.

The MMCDC offers 25 scattered site homes for families, ranging in size from 3 to 5 bedrooms.

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Request to have a pre-application mailed or emailed to you by calling (218) 846-7316 during normal office hours.
  2. Visit the MMCDC to pick up a pre-application, located at 119 Graystone Plaza, Suite 100, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota 56501, during normal office hours.
Once the pre-application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above.

Please note: According to the MMCDC, the office requires a, "payment of a $25 nonrefundable application fee for each adult to cover the cost associated with the eligibility review.:

Be sure to include copies of each household members Social Security Cards.

The MMCD does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: Displaced by a federally declared disaster, and who are section 8 holders or Public Housing residing in another jurisdiction. or live and/or work in Becker County.
