Eligibility

The Millington Housing Authority (MHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list applications on a limited basis for 2-5 bedroom households that qualify for the following preferences:

  • Natural disaster displaced eligible households with proper paperwork from FEMA, for a period of 6 months after the area is declared a natural disaster.
  • Residents of the city of Millington who are employed at least 20 hours per week at minimum wage (or equivalent).  Applicants who work in the city of Millington will be considered residents of the City for purposes of this preference. Proof of employment is defined as a pay stub from  the employer listing a Millington business address.  However, an applicant must be given the benefit of the working family preference if the head and spouse, or sole member is age 62 or older, or is a person with disabilities.
  • Residents of the city of Millington.  Proof of residency is defined as a current lease in Applicants name in the City of Millington

Please note: The 1-bedroom waiting list is currently closed.

The MHA offers one Public Housing community with 89 units.

To apply, visit the MHA to submit an application in person, located at 4888 Bill Knight Rd., Millington, TN 38053, from 8:00 am until 11:30 am CT on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Be sure to bring these documents with you when applying: Birth certificates, Social Security Cards, proof of all income, and photo IDs for all adult household members. All adult household members must be present when applying for housing.

The MHA does have a preference for applicants who live and/or work in Millington.

Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list. Contact the housing authority to find out how to update application information.
